Media Machines (Overview)
Streamlining your Corps’ media needs.
We believe that presentation of media is an important aspect to many church services. There are many media related needs that Corps run into every week — one Sunday you might want to play a clip from a DVD and the next you might have a guest speaker with their own presentation needs. We understand the flexible nature of a worship services, and that it’s frustrating when time and resources are lacking to co-ordinate all of those needs.
That’s where the CMD Media Machine comes in. We’ve designed this machine to address those needs in one convenient, easy to use package. We’ve chosen the best presentation hardware and software that will handle anything thrown at it. Plus, with the CMD Media Hub, you’ll have access to tons of great creative new media, ready to use out of the box.
Even though this is a powerful package with lots of features, it's incredibly easy to use.
Here's a little more detail:
It runs on the Mac.
We’ve chosen the Mac operating system for a few reasons, but mainly because it’s incredibly easy to use. All of your videos, images and music are easily accessable and work straight out of the box. As well as that, the presentation software and apps we’ve tested run a whole lot smoother on the Mac. If you’ve never used a Mac before, there’s nothing to worry about — it’s not as scary as it sounds and we’ll help you pick it up.
Featuring ProPresenter 7.
We’ve come a long way from OHP’s. Now, with data projectors and computers, we can choose from a wide variety of software packages that can produce and display media. ProPresenter made the top of our list and we think you’ll enjoy the same things we did — excellent functionality, speed and ease of use. Plus, all of your old Powerpoint presentations work seamlessley within the ProPresenter environment. We’ve been using this software for Territorial events since 2010.
CMD Media Hub.
The media machine is an evolving platform. We are consistently looking for ways to resource Corps and Centres with new and exciting visual and audio content for mission purposes. The CMD media library is a collection of audio and visual resources like sermons, music, promotional videos, campaigns, events and a lot more. These resources are deisgned to help you do mission easier and more effectively where you are!
- You’ll like this: Our media machines come loaded with the entire Salvation Army songbook ready to go — so there’s no more need to type out your favourite tunes.
Events are happening all the time in The Salvation Army, and there’s always promotional slides and videos to go with them. These will appear and disapper from your machine without you having to do a thing. All you have to do is click and play.
The Media Machine requires three things to function properly. The first is a realiable broadband connection (either wireless or hardwired) for support and update purposes.
The second is a computer monitor with a DVI or HDMI input connection.
Lastly, you’ll need a projector with a VGA, DVI or HDMI input connection.
We are in the process of updating costings, but previous machines have been leased from $60 - $75 per month.
Media Machines are charged under the ISG rental scheme using the same processes.
For those who have an ISG server at your centre, please be aware that due to technical limitations we cannot currently make a reliable connection to your server drives. Although the machine will sometimes pick up the drives and access them using valid credentials, this is not always the case. Therefore we do not recommend relying on this as accessible file storage.
In the meantime you can use a USB drive or airdrop to transfer files to your machine. This is also best practice in live production and you should always run media from your local machine to eliminate the risk of lost connections.
